Formed in January 1923 as part of the Railways Act, London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) became one of the pivotal ‘Big Four’ running many critical lines across the UK. You can relive some of this historic era in Train Simulator Classic with a new LNER Centenary Bundle available, along with a whole range of add-ons to expand your collection on the Steam Store.

LNER was responsible for passenger and freight traffic across East Coast Main Line from London to Edinburgh, the Great Eastern Main Line from London running into East Anglia and many other areas in the UK across an extensive network. Along with the large rail transportation fleet which included thousands of locomotives, the company also operated canals, harbours, ships, buses, hotels and even the LNER Musical Society at one point!

On the Railways LNER became famous for elegance and speed. The iconic apple green livery could be seen racing down the line on some legendary locomotives like the LNER Class A3 4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’ and LNER Class A4 4468 ‘Mallard’ - Both designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. Famous around the world, these record-breaking locomotives have a special place in the heart of many railfans. You can live your dream of riding the footplate on these in Train Simulator Classic.

LNER would of course return to British railways later in life, and you can find many modern iterations in Train Simulator Classic.
