TSW: Go Hydraulic with the Western!

Experience something new under the sunny skies of West Somerset in the form of the BR Class 52, which is available now for Train Sim World!
The BR Class 52 ‘Western’ was built during the dawn of the diesel age to replace express steam locomotives on British Railway’s Western Region. Unlike the rest of the network, the Western Region opted for diesel-hydraulic transmission as their main driver for top-link work, claiming it would be more beneficial than diesel-electric counterparts.
As a result, the Class 52 was soon born, equipped with 2 diesel engines totalling in 2700 horsepower and capable of sustaining 90mph operation. They would spend their days racing out of London Paddington and serving the west, before finally being retired in 1977.
It is in their retirement that select locomotives found new life and survived into preservation, including on the West Somerset Railway, where they still have the chance to give passengers a taste of what it was like to ride the rails of yesteryear.
And now, in Train Sim World, you too can go hydraulic and take control of the BR Class 52 ‘Western’, which is available now and further brings to life our West Somerset Railway diesel gala!
