Looking for somewhere to begin? We've got 7 areas we want to highlight to give you a taste of the new features, and a starting point for your new adventures. Let's see what we can discover!
1. Drive Easy with Simple Controls!

Beginner Controls (or "Simple Controls") is our way of making your first experience with Train Sim World, as a new player, or as a seasoned driver looking to try new traction, as easy as possible, and as quick to discover the fun. This is perfect for people who'd rather "get moving" before tackling more in-depth tutorials, because with this setting enabled, once your service starts, you can drive in seconds - on any trains you own in TSW7 for timetable services and Free Roam.
It's as simple as four buttons for two sliders; Brake and Power. See this new UI HUD overlay below:

Watch simple controls in action from our Florida Tri-Rail preview stream!
As an important note from our team, we're not looking to remove the high-level simulations we've spent over a decade building, we're fully committed to creating authentic and true-to-life experiences. This options exists as a toggleable setting, and if it's not your style, then Beginner Controls will have no impact on your gameplay.
We are super exicted to see more players enjoy the fun of train simulation, and we're hoping these controls help encourage them to progress onto realistic controls if they wish. Be sure to read more details in our TSW7 Beginner Controls FAQ.
2. Get Creative with Freight Hauler - A New Mode!

Available for the new routes in Train Sim World 7, it's time to put your stock to the test! Freight Hauler is a brand-new game mode that allows players to freely move freight around their favourite routes. Simply select the route from the Main Menu, choose the new Freight Hauler mode, and start loading into a randomly generated service!

Freight cars will be distributed across the route awaiting delivery to their destination. Your task: spawn any train you like, find the freight, set your path and get the job done any way you see fit. The in-game map will provide you with detailed information about each freight car, which can also be viewed as a floating tooltip in-game.

This is your chance to utilise pure freedom and strategy, relishing the joys of hauling freight across the latest routes in Train Sim World 7, and being rewarded with a new Freight Hauler debrief screen summarising your score.
3. Capture the Moment with 'Epic' Settings and Enhanced Lighting
Epic Settings
Go beyond Ultra with our highest-tier graphical setting in Train Sim World: Epic!

This will allow high-end PC systems to push the games graphics further than ever before, taking better advantage of modern hardware by extending draw distances and improving shadow distance and quality and reduce asset pop-in with extended LOD ranges.
Settings are individually configurable, so you are free to prioritize what’s most important to you. Upscaling can also help to offset performance differences when in GPU constrained situations. While frame generation can make the overall presentation appear smoother in motion.

Enhanced Lighting
Enhanced lighting is a separate toggle that adjusts the lighting profile of the game to create a more balanced and striking image. Made in cooperation with community modder JetWash, indirectly areas now appear darker, and objects more naturally blend into the scenery with subtle shading adjustments.
On top this, light rays will now filter through the trees, and other scenery giving the scene added depth and atmosphere. Best of all, these changes have little-to-no performance impact.

Take a look at our before & after comparisons below, featuring the Mittenwaldbahn, Great Western Express and Bernina Line Add-ons. (Click to expand!)

In addition, TSW7 comes with native DirectX 12 support, providing increased compatibility with modern graphics cards and better performance in some areas. We've also introduced both DLSS 4.5 & FSR4 Upscaling that will allow you to make improvements to visual clarity and antialiasing on graphics cards that support these settings.
Oh course, with all of these changes, it'll perfectly enable you to not only live the best visuals as you play, but also capture and save some incredible screenshots using Photo Mode! Be sure to share these with our team, and get a chance to be featured on our Railshots competitions and on in-game loading screens!

4. Get the Forecast with Live Weather
Let's add one more to the list of "what can Train Sim World be used for" - Forecasting the weather is now fully possible, with the new Live Weather feature!

When connected to Dovetail Live you will be able to select “Live Weather” as an option when choosing a service, which will periodically refresh the weather conditions in-game with the current real-world conditions of that exact location!

How cool is that?! Weather effects will change in real-time, and transition between different states, so if you're a local to the line, and you start noticing clouds building up above as you drive, then perhaps grab that brolly before heading outside!
Discover Updates to Dynamic Weather
As a bonus, we have completely overhauled Dynamic Weather from the ground up, with every pattern being changed, and almost all of the individual scenes altered to bring more improvements to the system!
We'll be diving deeper into the new mechanics of this weather system in a future article, with details on how Summer, Winter, Autumn and Spring are all changed.
We hope you enjoy the new Dynamic Weather, whether you’ve tried it in the past or not, we’d encourage taking another look at it. There are some really lovely scenes and transitions to be enjoyed, and we curated all of it with the help of JetWash and other members of the beta team who provided a lot of feedback as they were developed and improved, thanks to all involved!
5. Discover A Suite of New Quality-of-Life Improvements
Sometimes the best things in life, are more simple than bold new modes or settings, and rather smaller changes that serve to make your time in-game the most enjoyable and smooth, satisfying experience possible. Train Sim World 7 brings a huge suite of quality-of-life improvements to do exactly just that!
Adjustable FOV (Field of View) will help you see more of your surroundings and can reduce feelings of motion sickness (scalable from 60 to 120 degrees).
Default Safety System Settings will allow you to choose which safety systems you want enabled or disabled by default when you load any service, with a huge range of options between the various safety systems for each region.
Improved Loading Times will massively reduce the time needed for the game to boot, and when moving between a service and the menues, even when playing with a large volume of installed Add-ons.
AI Conductor Setting that will automatically handle door operations whilst you're driving (opening, closing doors and managing the guard buzzer). This is a toggleable setting to give you the chance to focus on driving, or following normal procedures where a driver may not be expected to handle door controls. You can toggle various realism levels for this setting to your liking.
Improved Temporary Speed Restrictions will provide further randomness and variety for the TSRs you experience, including different speed limitations and variety of where they will appear.
Controller Improvements give players a faster maximum speed when using external cameras (no more runaway trains!) and a toggle button for the bell to primarily trains from the USA.
Steam Deck Support & Steam Cloud Saving will give players going handheld the full experience when using the Steam Deck, as well as seamless access to your saved data on any Steam device, with saves being automatically backed up.

Early Access Known Issues
Currently, our teams are aware of a couple notable areas we want to let you know about when heading into Early Access:
- Simple Controls will not have a tutorial during Early Access – This is currently in testing with our teams and will be implemented shortly.
- When using Simple Controls, please note that when driving trains without the full simugraph enabled in this mode, some functionality may not work as expected. Please let us know your feedback when using the mode, and we'll keep updating any outlying areas.
- We've seen a few instances of Live Weather loading in suddenly without a smoother transitions, and currently we have an improvement planned for launch to ensure this is smoother.
- We’ve investigating some of the Xbox crashes we’ve seen at Nürnberg–Würzburg route, especially around Nürnberg station, noted when Matt was playing live – this might be due to builds not being set-up fully, and from using all DLC layers installed (players in Early Access won't have this access until launch). Our teams are actively investigating.
- PC Editor will not be available during Early Access, and will updated for Train Sim World 7 shortly after launch.
Arriving with launch will be a sizable 'Day one update' that gives our team to address any feedback from Early Access, and help improve the experience as much as possible. Additionally, we'll have regular follow-up patches in the weeks from launch and onwards to ensure we're keeping you updated with the latest improvements.
