The Valley VIP
RSSLO’s stunning DB BR 612, available now for Train Simulator!
Known as the RegioSwingers, the DB BR 612 fleet was built as a third attempt to introduce tilting diesel multiple units to rural routes on the Deutsche Bahn network, as previous designs proved highly unsuccessful.
Between 1998 and 2003, almost 200 of the new DB BR 612s were built at Adtranz’s (later Bombardier’s) factory in Hennigsdorf, their sheer quantity demonstrates their improved reliability in service over previous traction. The benefit of a tilting DMU is faster journey times across un-electrified routes, all-while retaining passenger comfort along the curves of rural lines.
The DB BR 612 fleet can reach a top speed of 160 km/h, and within their 2-car configuration, they can seat 146, which is easily doubled up in busier hours by coupling units together. They are very indicative of the era they were built, most notably in the driver’s cab which features both modern displays and classic gauges in tandem with the controls typically expected, including full door controls.
In Train simulator, you can now experience everything the Pro Range-worthy DB BR 612 from RSSLO has to offer.
