Train Sim World 3

TSW: Wuppertal Wonder

Let’s take another look at the upcoming, action-packed Rhein-Ruhr Osten route, which is coming to Train Sim World on October 10th!

A Line of Two Tales

The hustle and bustle of urban sprawl passenger operations and intermix of freight will be yours to experience in Train Sim World: Rhein-Ruhr Osten. Take in the scenic backdrop of the North Rhine-Westphalia as you carry out passenger and freight duties whilst negotiating the busy Rhein-Ruhr route.
Manage two very different German electric trains, the DB BR 422 and MRCE BR 185.5, through the route as it forges along two separate paths, along which you’ll serve many passenger stations and deliver your cargo on time.

Modern Masterpiece

Built between 2007 and 2010, the DB BR 422 was ordered by the dozen to take charge of commuter services on the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr. A consortium of Alstom and Bombardier designed the unit, and others like it, to fulfil similar roles on urban networks throughout Germany.
Decked out with modern controls, capable of 140 km/h with efficient and comfortable running thanks to its shared Jacobs bogies, all while featuring a spacious and accessible interior that’s able to take around 500 people, the DB BR 422s are perfectly suited to high density passenger operations between Hagen and Wuppertal.

Hired Horsepower

A powerful and capable locomotive, the MRCE BR 185.5 is designed for the cross-border freight market in Germany and beyond, and is a regular sight ahead freight traffic on the Ruhr-Wuppertal mainline.
The BR 185.5 was a development of the DB BR 145, and falls under the family name of TRAXX, which is an acronym for Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility – ultimately meaning that the family can be suited to any duty, any railway.
MRCE own a small fleet of 11 BR 185.5s, and put them to use on spot hire freight duties wherever required. Other rail companies lease the BR 185.5s from MRCE, perhaps to cover for one of their own failed locomotives, or to meet additional demands.

Like previous routes, TSW: Rhien-Ruhr Osten will allow locomotives such as the DB BR 143, DB BR 155 and DB BR 182 and DB BR 185.2 to swap into the freight services included with the route. Not only that, but if you own Ruhr-Sieg Nord and/or Main-Spessart Bahn, then you can enjoy additional Regional Express services that travel via the main line. All told, Rhein-Ruhr Osten can be populated with over 200 diverse and engaging passenger services.
There’s not much longer to go until you can explore the Wuppertal rails, as Train Sim World: Rhein-Ruhr Osten is arriving on October 10th!
Train Sim World: Ruhr-Sieg Nord, Main-Spessart Bahn, DB BR 155 & DB BR 182 are available separately.
