Season of Reveals 2025 has now come to a close, and we've had a blast celebrating all of the new announcements, highlighting the incredible partner development add-ons in development, and seeing all of the wonderful reactions from across the community.
But we've got a couple of final updates we want to share today, including a FREE Add-on for Train Sim World - Spirit of Steam, available to keep forever at no cost until January, and a first look at gameplay for the upcoming GWE Remaster, which we know so many of you are eagerly waiting for, and it won't be long until you're enjoying the completely overhauled features on the route.

As a special festive treat for all our TSW6 players, we're excited to be giving away our Spirit of Steam add-on, free to keep forever, starting right now until 5th January 2026!
Get your hands on the very first Steam locomotive add-on in TSW, experiencing it from the start and enjoy a highly unique way to travel across your routes.
Everyone who claim this add-on will also unlock access to steam rail tours across other UK routes, and get the chance to earn unique decals using the Jubilee and Stanier locomotives in mastery challenges (more details below).

Step back in time and discover the soot and sounds of the romantic steam era; climb aboard iconic living locomotives hungry for coal and water, and work hard on busy passenger and freight services through historic Merseyside and Cheshire with Train Sim World 6: Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe
Take control of the famous LMS Jubilee Class locomotive, resplendent in nostalgic BR Brunswick Green livery, adorned with BR’s late crest. Carry passengers on a journey of a lifetime along the West Coast Main Line, over the Runcorn Railway Bridge and right into the heart of Merseyside. Additionally, be in charge the hard-working LMS Stanier 8F Class locomotive, its rugged BR Late Black guise and 2-8-0 wheel configuration better suited to hauling lower speed, heavy freight trains.
Drive these steam locomotives anywhere in Free Roam! The Spirit of Steam Add-on also unlocks steam rail tour services and AI traffic on other Train Sim World routes (sometimes in combination with other Add-ons). These include:
- Southeastern Highspeed
- Blackpool Branches
- WCML: Preston - Carlisle
- WCML: Birmingham - Crewe
- Glossop Line
Once you're familiar with the footplate in Training Center, head out onto the main line and tackle Mastery Challenges over the festive period to unlock a unique decals and a Scenery Tile:
- Tier 1 = Prepare a Jubilee for service in Timetable Mode / Complete 2 Scenarios
- Tier 2 = Complete 3 Scenarios or Services with the 8F / Drive 80 miles or 120 km with the Jubilee
How to claim across all game platforms
- Steam: A new free-to-keep Spirit of Steam package will be available on the Steam store (TSW6 base game, including Starter Pack, is required in order to claim the add-on).
- Epic Games: Spirit of Steam Add-on will appear free on the store page (TSW6 base game, including Starter Pack, is required in order to claim the add-on).
- PlayStation: Spirit of Steam Add-on will appear free on the store page (no TSW6 ownership requirements).
- Xbox: Spirit of Steam Add-on will appear free on the store page (no TSW6 ownership requirements).
If this is your first time in the world of Steam trains, take a look at our full Spirit of Steam Support Guide on our Support website. You can also experience the 8F on Training Center. We recommend players play the locomotives in auto-fireman instead of manual firing mode for the best experience.
You will be able to claim these bundles for free until Monday 5th January 2026 at 6pm UTC, so be sure to pick them up over the holidays!
Get ready for the Great Western Express Remastered - Coming Early Next Year!
Last week we promised you an update on the Great Western Express remaster, and today we have some new details and timelapses to showcase as we build up to the release coming very soon in the new year!
Great Western Express Remastered - Gameplay Showcase
There have also been audio upgrades, with support from Rhys in our Audio Team, including brand-new rail singing audio, as well as other improvements which you can get a teaser of in the above showcase video.
DTG Liam who has worked on this remaster also wanted to share some additional facts that can get you excited and ready for this free update coming to all GWE owners:
Liam: "The new 2017 timetable for GWE will layer in up to 23 UK add-ons to create the second-largest UK timetable ever in TSW, featuring an incredible 4,674 services, with 1,335 playable services for you to enjoy. This is over 5x the number of total services, and over 3x the number of playable services compared to the original timetable."
"All GWE and Diesel Legends stock upgraded to latest standards, including new wheel blur, guard mode, suspension, reworked lighting and weather effects.
"There are 2 new stations with full London Underground branding; Royal Oak Station and Westbourne Park. Plus, new London Underground platforms at Ealing Broadway. This comes with a full London Underground timetable. All Circle and Hammersmith & City line services playable using a Class 484 with a London Underground inspired livery to represent the D-Stock trains."
"Additionally there's a full Heathrow Connect service timetable using a Class 350 in a Heathrow Connect inspired livery to represent the Class 360, with all services playable."

Liam has also noted making changes to support improved optimisation on the route too, including re-building the lighting and removing large files which weren't necessary with the remaster, and our teams will monitor closely on launch to ensure everyone is able to enjoy the most of these incredible new features across all our platforms.

A note on Stuttgart-Heilbronn Updates
Originally we had plans to share a first batch of improvements to the Frankenbahn Stuttgart-Heilbronn route this side of the holidays, however we're now holding these for the new year, whilst we still finalise checks and ensure that what we deliver doesn't have any adverse impact that we won't be able to resolve before we sign off.
We appreciate your patience and feedback folks, and we hope that we can deliver big with this update when we meet back up in January.
