TSW: Hagen – Take Two!

Modern EMU and intermodal freight action come together in our latest route for Train Sim World – introducing Rhein-Ruhr Osten: Hagen – Wuppertal, coming soon to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4!
The S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr was established in 1967 in order to bring a new era of commuter rail travel to the urban regions of North Rhine-Westphalia. Prior to this, inadequate steam locomotives dating back to 1912 were in charge, however bringing the various Ruhr, Berg and Rhineland cities into one network meant widespread transformations could take place.
Electric traction would be the mainstay for the new S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr, starting off with locomotives like the BR 141 and multiple units like the BR 420. In more recent years, a new fleet of EMUs took centre stage, including the DB BR 422 which was designed by both Alstom and Bombardier. A total of 84 of these sleek, 4-car units were built, with the first examples entering service in 2008.
Train Sim World: Rhein-Ruhr Osten will bring to life the S8 Line between Hagen Hbf and Wuppertal Steinbeck, which weaves its way through city outskirts and rural landscapes serving 14 intermediate stations en-route.
In addition, the main line between Hagen and Wuppertal is also included for freight traffic between Hagen and Wuppertal yards, as well as the container yard at Wuppertal-Langerfeld. The S-Bahn branches off just south of Hagen and comes back together with the main line again at Schwelm, crossing over and under to form the multi-track stretch into Wuppertal.
One cannot talk about Wuppertal without the “Schwebebahn” being mentioned at one point or another. In light of it recently being re-opened, we’ve adapted our road traffic technology to make sure it is visually operational, adding to the life of the route as you transport passengers and freight alongside this uniquely elevated system.
With plenty of rail traffic, frequent commuter stopping and stretches of forested countryside there’s no end to the activities present on Rhein-Ruhr Osten, which is coming soon to Train Sim World!
Train Sim World: Rhein-Ruhr Osten is coming soon, and it will feature the modern DB BR 422 in DB Traffic Red livery for S-Bahn duties (above) and the powerful MRCE BR 185.5 for intermodal freight haulage (below).
Included with Train Sim World: Rhein-Ruhr Osten will be brand new Sggmrss Container Wagons, complete with authentic Hamburg Süd and Hapag-Lloyd cargo containers.
One unique feature of Wuppertal is the Schwebebahn (Suspension Railway) which runs over the River Wupper from Oberbarmen and into the city. At several points along its journey it runs alongside the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr, and you’ll get to see it in action as you drive by.
Authentic controls aplenty on the all-new DB BR 422, with its state-of-the-art desk layout expansive windscreen, there’s no better seat than this to take in all the scenery.
If you happen to own Train Sim World: Main-Spessart Bahn, or Ruhr-Sieg Nord, then rejoice as Rhein-Ruhr Osten will benefit from additional timetabled services that you can drive on regional services alongside the DB BR 422. The included freight services can also be hauled by the DB BR 143, 155, 182 and 185.2 locomotives.
Mixed-traffic duties await on Rhein-Ruhr Osten: Hagen – Wuppertal, the latest route which is coming soon to Train Sim World!
